Rod Phillips
Rod Phillips Rod Phillips graduated from the program in 2000.  Rod, who has taught history at Carleton University since 1989, finds wine taking more and more of his time. He is the wine columnist for the Ottawa Citizen, is a regular contributor to Wine Access and Tidings, and has published in magazines like Wine Spectator and World of Fine Wine.  He’s the author of A Short History of Wine (2000), which was published in seven foreign languages, and Ontario Wine Country (2006). He reviews wines in the Winepointer newsletter, which is published every 2 weeks through his web site rodphillipsonwine.com. Rod also has taught in the Algonquin sommelier program, judges in wine competitions in Canada and Europe, consults on restaurant wine lists, participates in wine-related charity events, speaks on wine, and travels regularly to the world’s wine regions.
