In light of the new Sommelier Certificate format adjustments have been made in order to accommodate students who are already part of the program. This clause will remain in effect until conclusion of the Fall Semester 2006 at which time all students will be required to complete the seven levels in order to gain the Sommelier Certificate. All students who enrolled in the program prior to the Fall Semester 2004 will be grandfathered and will only be required to take 6 levels within an active two year period to achieve the certificate. Old World Wine Regions HOS 5163 has officially replaced the Sommelier Introduction course HOS 5096 which is no longer part of the program. Grape Varieties HOS 5027 and Vinification HOS 5148 are essentially the same course as Wine Appreciation Advanced HOS 5027 and Wine Making HOS 5148, only the names have been changed. Students are welcome to enrol in the other new courses, Wine Tasting HOS 5162 and New World Wine Regions HOS 5164 out of interest but will not be require to have received credit in order to achieve the Sommelier certificate.
