This course provides in-depth coverage of the major Old World wine countries. Students will learn the geographical, historical and cultural significance of the wines of the main regions in France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal and central Europe. The evolution of wine making in some of these classic regions established the standards for grape growing and wine producing techniques around the world. Find out how these areas have influenced and been affected by the global wine industry, and study their impact on today’s wine market. Greatly expand your knowledge of old world wine regions while tasting premium wines such as: Classed growth Bordeaux, Chablis 1er cru, Montrachet, Hermitage, Amarone, Barolo, Vintage Port & Champagne just to list a few, selected to best represent each region.
Prerequisite(s): HOS5026 or HOS5027 and HOS5148 and HOS5162
